Pioneering the transition of Sustainability in Indian Railways

Almost Three decades ago we introduced Paper cup in Indian Railways. We gave the samples of Paper Cups to the Railway officials when plastic cups were being used then.

The history of disposable service in India’s transit sector is marked by a pivotal shift that occurred almost three decades ago. At a time when plastic was the undisputed king of convenience, a visionary move was made to introduce paper cups to the vast network of the Indian Railways. This was not merely a change in
material; it was the introduction of a more hygienic, eco-friendly, and culturally appropriate way to serve millions of passengers daily. As one of the oldest paper cup manufacturers in India, our journey is inextricably linked with this monumental transformation in how a nation drinks its tea and coffee on the move.

In the mid-1990s, the landscape of Indian Railway platforms and pantry cars was dominated by plastic. While functional, the environmental toll and the aesthetic experience left much to be desired. Recognizing the potential for a cleaner alternative, we took the initiative to present the very first samples of paper cups to Railway officials. It was a bold proposition at the time—to replace a cheap, established medium with something that was then considered a novelty. However,  the superior thermal insulation, the biodegradable nature of the paper, and the crisp, clean feel of the product eventually won over the decision-makers. This initial spark ignited a revolution that would eventually see paper cups become the
standard for railway catering across the subcontinent.

Since that successful introduction, our relationship with the Indian Railways has matured through a rigorous and transparent process of national tenders. For decades, we have consistently met the high-volume demands and stringent quality standards required by one of the world’s largest rail networks. Supplying to the Railways via tenders requires more than just manufacturing capacity; it demands a
commitment to consistency, safety, and reliability. Every cup that reaches a passenger is a testament to our specialized production processes that ensure leak- proof performance and food-grade safety, hallmarks that have defined our brand  since our inception.

Our status as one of the oldest paper cup manufacturers in the country gives us a unique perspective on the evolution of the industry.
